Background

C.B.S. Westland Row has a long and rich history which is celebrated and highlighted in the school through an exhibition of photographs, records and memorabilia.

The school has just celebrated 150 years in the area and while we welcome a new generation into the school we also remember names such as Padraig Pearse, Willie Pearse, Ken Doherty, Cyril Cusack and Ray Treacy amongst many others.

The Christian Brothers handled our Trusteeship of the school in recent years but the ethos of brother Edmund Rice is still strong in the school and underpins our daily work. We also have strong connections with our Past Pupils Union, which continues to support the school and offers a link with a rich and meaningful past.

The school welcomed its first female students in the late eighties. Since then the co-educational intake has benefited the students and created an environment more appropriate to the modern world.

The traditions established in the school still hold firm today. There is a very strong ethos of pastoral care in the school and a welcome to all. The school is part a wider community and as an Edmund Rice school we adhere strongly to the key elements of the Edmund Rice Schools Trust Charter.
