Past Pupils Union (P.P.U.)
All past pupils of the school are encouraged to join the Past Pupils Union (PPU) where they will be made most welcome.
The PPU was established in 1954 and has several roles. It keeps past pupils informed on the progress of the school and the many changes it has gone through over the years. It also provides a way for past pupils to keep in touch.
An important role undertaken by the PPU is to support the principal and the teachers in providing the best possible education for the current generation of pupils. They help with career guidance and use their extensive business network to prepare pupils for the world outside the school. They support other learning opportunities from time to time, including homework clubs and Gaeltacht scholarships. They sponsor our annual Student of the Year awards and help in other fund-raising activities from time to time.
The PPU has also assisted with funding for special projects such as the Pearse Museum and had a major role in helping to organise our 150 year celebrations in 2015. As part of the celebrations they also published an excellent history of the school. Copies are available from the PPU.
The PPU organises an annual Past Pupils Dinner at which an award is made to the Row Person of the Year. The Committee welcomes nominations for the Award.
The school is very proud of our PPU and very appreciative of their ongoing support. We would encourage recent school leavers to join the PPU as a way of keeping in touch with the school and contributing to the excellent work the school does.
Further information and a membership form are available on the PPU website www.westlandrowppu.ie
